The Ministry of Environment/Environment Control Agency (“ KLH/BPLH ”) is preparing draft regulation of the minister on the Extended Producer Responsibility (“ EPR ”). This regulation addresses the environmental impacts caused by plastic waste.
“This is currently being drafted, following the issuance of Perpres 109/2025 on the Handling of Urban Waste Management through Waste-to-Renewable-Energy Processing Based on Environmentally Friendly Technology,” said Minister of Environment/Head of BPLH, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
KLH/BPLH will also amend Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No. 1 of 2024 on the Handling of Garbage Arising Due To Disasters (“ PermenLHK 1/2024 ”), as it will include additional targets for reducing plastic waste in Indonesia.
“Therefore, the mandate of Perpres 12/2025 on the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) requires that the waste issue be resolved by 2029,” said Hanif.
