Komdigi Incubates the Personal Data Protection Agency for 6 Months

The Directorate General of Digital Space Supervision ensures progress in establishing the Personal Data Protection ("PDP") agency within the Ministry of Communication and Digital ("Komdigi"). The oversight of personal data protection will be handled by the Directorate General of Digital Space Supervision at Komdigi.

“The incubation process will last for six months under the Directorate General of Digital Space Supervision. Once the organizational structure and technical implementation regulations are finalized, it will be officially launched as an independent agency,” said Director of Informatics Application Control, Teguh Arifiyadi, to Hukumonline.com.

The drafting of the Government Regulation on PDP ("RPP PDP") as the implementing regulation of Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection ("UU PDP") is currently in the harmonization process at the Ministry of Law.

“It shouldn’t take long, as the RPP was already discussed with the Ministry of Law before its transition from Aptika to the Directorate General of Digital Space Supervision. So, it is just a matter of finalization,” said Teguh.
