The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) continues to process the Draft Regulation of the Government (Rancangan Peraturan Pemerintah - “RPP”) on Personal Data Protection (“PDP”). Tuaman Manurung, the Head of the Informatics Application Governance and Personal Data Protection Regulation and Policy Team, stated that the implementing regulation derived from Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (“PDP Law”) has become a serious concern for the government, and therefore, it is expected to be completed in the near future.
"It has entered the fourth harmonization, and the plan for next week is to continue with further harmonization," Tuaman told Hukumonline, on the sidelines of the ALTA Advocates FGD event related to the Implementation of Criminal Provisions in the PDP Law.
In the RPP PDP policy package, there are several reinforced provisions including Article 10 paragraph (2), which addresses the responsibilities of personal data controllers, Article 34 paragraph (3), which addresses the rights of personal data subjects. As well as Article 48 paragraph (5) which addresses international cooperation in personal data protection.
