The government is still preparing implementing regulations on the Standard Inpatient Class (Kelas Rawat Inap Standar – “KRIS”). There needs to be adjustments in the draft regulation, for example regarding the details of the service room.

" We propose maintaining three service rooms (Class 1-3), but by improving Class 3 which is considered not up to standard," said BPJS Watch Advocacy Coordinator Timboel Siregar to Hukumonline.

For example, if there are 7 or 8 beds in one Class 3 treatment room, then the hospital can make one room contain 4 treatment beds. The goal is to support better service.

However, the challenge is that the hospital must have the capital to reconstruct the room. So it will affect the time of KRIS implementation. "The hospital is also not necessarily ready. (The implementation of KRIS) is also not necessarily ready until December," said Timboel.

The KRIS policy is contained in the revision of Regulation of the President No. 59 of 2024 on the Third Amendment to Regulation of the President No. 82 of 2018 on Healthcare Security (collectively referred to as “Perpres 59/2024”), namely that all hospitals are required to implement KRIS no later than 30 June 2025, while the determination of benefits, tarrifs, and contributions is determined no later than 1 July 2025.
