Chairman of the Legislative Body (Badan Legislasi – “Baleg”) of the House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat – “DPR”), Bob Hasan explained the provisions on the use of micro data in the Draft Bill (“RUU on Statistics”) on the Amendment to Law No. 16 of 1997 on Statistics (“UU 16/1997”). According to Bob, there is no need to worry about the use of micro data because the provision of data to Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik – “BPS”) in the Draft Bill on Statistics will be limited.

" Micro data can be sorted, not entirely. Then finally micro data is not always confidential data," said Bob to Hukumonline.

Bob ensured that later BPS will only request detailed data according to the context of the survey being conducted. The data limitations in this draft bill will still be the same as now, but he emphasized the regulation on the elimination of fees in the process of requesting micro data from the private sector.

"Or, data that comes from the private sector is charged a fee. That's the difference. At present, there is no fee," he explained.
