Firman Soebagyo, a member of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat - “DPR”), Firman Soebagyo has proposed that the government create a National Food Technology Roadmap in order to achieve food sovereignty.
“To be more effective and efficient, technology is needed. For example, organic fertilizers that can increase production, harvesting tools, and collaboration with various parties. There is no roadmap for that,” he told Hukumonline.
It is feared that food sovereignty cannot be achieved without such a roadmap. “There is no concept for food technology yet, nor is it clear how the government can address the challenges in achieving food self-sufficiency,” Firman concluded.
