Minister of Law Focuses on Private International Law and HCCH Membership

Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas revealed the government's focus on finalizing several regulations to support Indonesia's accession to the Hague Conference on Private International Law ("HCCH").
According to Andi, several measures are being prepared to facilitate HCCH membership, which is expected to be a step toward reforming Indonesia's civil law to align with international developments.
"This is crucial for us to undertake in reforming our civil law so that it aligns with the evolution of Private International Law," Andi told Hukumonline.com.
In addition to benefiting international legal relations, Andi explained that Indonesia's HCCH membership is expected to positively impact friendly relations and international cooperation in other sectors.
"It also provides opportunities for expanding legal cooperation, as well as in other fields," he stated.
Regarding supporting regulations, the Draft Presidential Regulation on HCCH ("RPerpres HCCH") is currently being finalized, while the Draft Law on Private International Law ("RUU HPI") is still awaiting discussion with the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).
