Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that national regulations are needed to protect Indonesia’s biodiversity. This is because the government’s efforts to protect biodiversity have not been optimal.
“I have instructed the Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control to focus on developing regulations (on biodiversity),” said Hanif.
To date, Indonesia does not have many biodiversity instruments. However, scientifically and logically, the existence of biodiversity guarantees the sustainability of the environmental process. If biodiversity is disrupted, the environment will also be adversely affected.
