Ahead of the 30th Conference of the Parties (“COP”) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (“UNFCCC”) in Belém, Brazil, the Ministry of Environment (“Ministry”) plans to bring up a number of key issues related to the certainty of climate change mitigation efforts.

Deputy for Climate Change Control and Carbon Economy Governance at the Ministry Ary Sudijanto said that there will be a number of important negotiations that must be resolved immediately at COP 30. These negotiations include funding commitments, a second phase global strategy, and adaptation agreements.

Ary emphasized that funding is a key issue, given that the current budget has not reached 20 percent of the funds needed to mobilize the planned climate action. In addition, incentives are also an important point for discussion in order to maximize the potential within the country.
