The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“Kementerian ESDM”) is drafting Regulation of the Minister that will regulate the hybrid (“hybrid”) method in electricity generation.
This hybrid method is described by the Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (“Dirjen EBTKE”), Eniya Listiani Dewi, as a combination of photovoltaic systems or solar power with other power plant sources such as wind. Ultimately, this combined method will produce electricity connected to a battery system.
“We are currently drafting Regulation of the Minister for hybrid. So there will be a combination of photovoltaic, then there is wind, combined with batteries,” said Eniya.
In the draft regulation on hybrid power plant, Eniya explained that discussions are ongoing regarding electricity prices. Eniya is confident that the hybrid power plant can be a solution to diesel usage, especially in Eastern Indonesia, which is considered to produce high emissions.
“From here, it can help reduce diesel in Eastern Indonesia,” she asserted.
