The Ministry of Finance (“Kemenkeu”) is preparing a Draft Regulation of the Minister of Finance (“RPMK”) related to Tax Consultants. Head of the Legal Bureau of the Secretariat-General of Kemenkeu, Tio Serepina Siahaan, explained that the drafting of this RPMK is a strategic step to strengthen the position of tax consultants as part of the national taxation ecosystem.
“This regulation can create a level playing field in the provision of taxation services. This RPMK is also in line with the RPMK on Taxpayer Attorneys and the RPMK on Legal Attorneys in Tax Courts,” said Tio Serepina Siahaan to Hukumonline.
Tax consultants, as regulated in Regulation of the Minister of Finance No. 111/PMK.03/2014 on Tax Consultants, as amended by Regulation of the Minister of Finance No. 175/PMK.01/2022 (collectively referred to as “Regulation 111/2014”), play a strategic role as intermediaries between the government and taxpayers. For the government, particularly Kemenkeu, tax consultants are important partners in efforts to increase state revenue.
“The process of harmonization and finalization of the concept is ongoing,” she added.
