Ministry of Foreign Affairs Finalizes Amendments to the Law on Foreign Relations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (" MoFA ") is finalizing the Draft Amendment to Law No. 37/1999 on Foreign Relations (" Law 37/1999 "). The amendment is expected to accommodate Indonesia's foreign relations and politics, both from the perspective of national law and international law.

"We are finalizing the letter to the president in accordance with the applicable provisions," Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Rolliansyah Soemirat told Hukumonline.

The Draft Amendment to Law 37/1999 is not included in the National Legislation Program for the Medium Term Period 2025-2029. The substance of the amendment to the Law supports the implementation of cooperation and foreign relations that are more relevant to the current dynamics of the international community.

"The revision of the almost 25-year-old law is expected to be adjusted to the development of foreign relations and existing regulations," he concluded.
