The Ministry of Forestry (“Ministry”) emphasizes the importance of deregulation, particularly to strengthen control and supervision of mining activities in forest areas. Director-General of Forestry Planning (“Director-General”) Ade Tri Ajikusumah said that he is currently revising Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No. 7 of 2021 on Forestry Planning, Changes in the Designation and Function of Forest Areas, and the Use of Forest Areas (“Regulation 7/2021”).
“So far, it is ongoing. That is the Minister's directive to revise Regulation No. 7 of 2021,” Ade told Hukumonline.
The revision, which is directed by the Minister of Forestry, is intended not only to strengthen control and supervision of mining but also to facilitate licensing. Ade emphasized that it will simplify the process for parties who want to utilize forest areas for activities such as mining. Additionally, improving the time required for licensing services is one of the deregulation points to be implemented.
“One of them is how to accelerate the licensing service process, along with other changes,” added Ade.
