The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is finalizing the New National Industrialization Strategy (Strategi Baru Industrialisasi Nasional–“ SBIN ”). The Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, stated that the strategy — which is scheduled for launch in September — is designed to strengthen the manufacturing sector and respond to global challenges.
“We will launch this new strategy in September. It also responds to the House of Representatives’ concerns regarding the importance of strengthening small- and medium-scales industries,” said Agus.
Agus explained that SBIN serves as a comprehensive framework to guide Indonesia through the pandemic, the climate crisis, economic disruptions, and the post-carbon era. The strategy is also positioned to enhance the resilience of the manufacturing sector in facing geopolitical dynamics and structural changes in the global economy.
According to him, six out of the eight targets of Astacita are directly related to the manufacturing sector. Several points emphasize the strengthening of small industries and the promotion of a people-based economy.
“Industrialization must be people-based in order to deliver tangible impacts,” he asserted.
