The Ministry of Industry (“Kemenperin”) is preparing a new deregulation measure through a Draft Regulation of the Minister of Industry on the Revocation of Regulation of the Minister of Industry No. 25 of 2024 (“Permenperin 25/2024”) on the Mandatory Implementation of the Indonesian National Standard (“SNI”) for Technical Grade Sodium Tripolyphosphate (“STPP”).
“The mandatory implementation of SNI for sodium tripolyphosphate is no longer in line with industrial standardization policies,” stated Merrijantij Punguan Pintaria, Director of the Beverage, Tobacco Products, and Refreshment Materials Industry at the Kemenperin.
Furthermore, Kemenperin is currently reassessing standardization instruments, particularly for raw materials and auxiliary materials in the agro-industry and supporting chemical sectors. This deregulation is expected to provide flexibility for industry players utilizing STPP as an auxiliary material, including in processed food, detergents, water treatment, and various other technical chemical applications sectors.
