The Ministry of Manpower (“Kemenaker”) is formulating strategic measures to strengthen mental health protections in the workplace. Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that the government is preparing standardized policies to create a psychosocially supportive work environment in order to boost national productivity.

“We need to detail psychosocial risks and how to measure them so that there are clear standards for companies,” said Yassierli. He added that these national guidelines for managing psychosocial risks must cover phases ranging from education and outreach to more intensive oversight.

In addition, the Ministry of Manpower is also promoting the strengthening of the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (“K3”). Muzakir, Director of Occupational Safety and Health Institutional Development, stated that the government is encouraging companies to include mental health clauses in Company Regulations (“PP”) or Collective Labor Agreements (“PKB”).

“It is how we integrate mental health into the formulation of policies—not only from the government’s perspective but also from the regulatory perspective within companies” he explained.
