Ministry of Trade Finalizes Revision to Regulation on Supervision of Goods in Circulation and Services

The Ministry of Trade (“Kemendag”) is currently finalizing the Draft Regulation of the Minister of Trade (“RPermendag”) on the Amendment to Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 69 of 2018 on the Supervision of Goods in Circulation and/or Services. Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Compliance (Perlindungan Konsumen dan Tertib Niaga – “PKTN”) at the Kemendag, Moga Simatupang, stated that the draft regulation has completed the harmonization process. 

“The revision to Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 69 of 2018 on the Supervision of Goods in Circulation and/or Services has completed the harmonization process,” Moga told Hukumonline. 

Moga explained that the revision aims to accommodate developments in modern trade, strengthen the supervision system, and align the provisions with relevant laws and regulations. Key matters addressed include expanding the scope of supervision, strengthening supervision procedures, enhancing the role of regional governments, and regulating information systems and the reporting of supervision results through Indonesia Market Surveillance (Inams). RPermendag also strengthens provisions concerning administrative sanctions.

In addition, Kemendag has incorporated input from the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (“BPJPH”), particularly regarding provisions on the supervision of halal products.
