The government has officially drafted a National Adaptation Plan (“NAP”). The industrial sector will adapt to this plan.
“The NAP will map areas that are at risk from climate change. This will serve as a reference for industry when establishing businesses or factories,” said Kardono, Coordinator of the Ministry of Environment’s Working Group on Climate Change Adaptation Planning and Development, to Hukumonline.
Through the NAP, business actors will be able to understand the surrounding environmental situation, such as vulnerabilities or risks to climate change, for example the potential for flooding in the future.
The NAP will also align with various related planning policies, such as the National Development Planning Agency’s Climate Resilient Development, the Ministry of Health’s Climate Change Adaptation in Health, and the Ministry of Environment’s Nationally Determined Contribution (“NDC”) roadmap.
