The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional - “Bappenas”) has proposed improvements to the provisions on the master plan for tourism development in the Draft Bill (“Tourism Draft Bill”) on the Second Amendment to Law No. 10 of 2009 on Tourism (“Law 10/2009”).
Eka Chandra Buana, Deputy for Macro Development Planning at Bappenas, proposed a National Tourism Destination Master Plan (Rencana Induk Destinasi Pariwisata Nasional - “RIDPN”) that spans provinces and regencies/cities to complement the provisions on tourism development master plans in the List of Issues (Daftar Inventarisasi Masalah/DIM) of the Tourism Bill.
“The government and regional governments will be given the authority to refine and develop detailed planning documents as operational tools for the tourism development master plan,” said Eka.
According to Eka, provisions on the RIDPN are necessary in the Tourism Draft Bill to accommodate a number of Regulations of the President (“Regulation”) and Draft Regulations of the President on the matter.
