Deputy for Connectivity Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development Odo Manuhutu said that they are currently drafting new regulations regarding the improvement of the National Transportation System (Sistem Transportasi Nasional – “Sistranas”). According to Odo, the regulation will be implemented through a Regulation of the Government.
“What we want to do is develop a new Regulation of the Government on the national transportation system," said Odo.
Odo explained that the urgency of the regulation is to align all regulations between Ministries/Institutions in the transportation sector. It is hoped that the regulation will be able to overcome overlapping regulations that hamper connectivity between transportation modes. It is hoped that this new regulation will be able to develop continuity from every construction of airports, train stations, or other transportation hubs.
"We will ensure that every time we connect a new hub, airport, or train station, we always have to think about how to connect it to something wider," he added.
