The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (“Komdigi”) is preparing a draft regulation concerning the standardization of technical competencies in the communication and information sector. The draft ministerial regulation is expected to revoke Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Informatics No. 9 of 2021 on the Technical Competency Dictionary for the Communication and Informatics Sector (“Permenkominfo 9/2021”).
“This draft regulation is an effort to strengthen the governance of civil servant human resources capable of addressing the challenges posed by developments in information technology and digital transformation,” said Teguh Arifiyadi, Director of Certification and Electronic Transaction Supervision at Komdigi.
Based on the draft obtained by Hukumonline, the draft ministerial regulation will establish competency standards for civil servants in formulating interconnection and tariff regulations, as well as in providing guidance to digital startups. The standards will also cover strict supervision of compliance with personal data protection requirements and audits of electronic systems operated by private-sector entities.
