OJK Finalizes Regulation for Financial Influencers

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is finalizing a draft regulation on financial influencers who frequently promote financial products and services. This regulation will cover several aspects, including the criteria for their activities, supervisory mechanisms, and provisions for Financial Service Institutions (Lembaga Jasa Keuangan- “ LJK ”) that collaborate with influencers.

“The framework of the provisions to be regulated is of a lex of generali nature, thus differing somewhat from Regulation of the Financial Services Authority No. 13 of 2025 on the Internal Control and Conduct of Securities Companies That Engage in Business Activities as Securities Underwriters and Securities Brokers (“ POJK 13/2025 ”), which serves aslex specialisfor Securities Companies with influencers,” said Rudy Agus P. Raharjo, Head of the Consumer Protection Department at OJK, in an interview with Hukumonline.

OJK also emphasizes the importance of ethics and content accuracy.Financial influencersmust provide information that is truthful, balanced, and not misleading, as well as disclose any potential conflicts of interest, such as receiving compensation from certain financial service providers. Benchmarking has also been conducted against several other countries that have earlier regulated financial content creators, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Australia.

“We hope that the POJK can be issued next year,” he added.
