OJK Reveals Plan to Establish Financial Inclusion Committee

The government will soon form a National Committee for Increasing Financial Literacy and Inclusion in accordance with No. 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (“UU 4/2023”). Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan – “OJK”) Mahendra Siregar said that currently the Regulation of the Government for the establishment of the institution is in the process of being drafted.

“The preparation of the initial draft of Draft Government Regulation (Rancangan Peraturan Pemerintah – “RPP”) on the National Committee (Komite Nasional – “Komnas”) for Financial Literacy and Inclusion (Literasi dan Inklusi Keuangan – “LIK”) together with relevant stakeholders coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko Perekonomian),” Mahendra explained to Hukumonline.

Based on the National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (Survei Nasional Literasi dan Inklusi Keuangan – “SNLIK”) together with Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) in early May 2025, there was an increase of 66.46% and also a financial inclusion index of 80.51%. This achievement has increased when compared to the results of the 2024 SNLIK which showed the financial literacy index and financial inclusion index figures at 65.43% and 75.22% respective.

“The results of the 2025 SNLIK will be used by OJK together with other stakeholders as evaluation material for the implementation of the intended program and the preparation of future policies," he added.
