Permenkes on Inpatient Care Targeted Before End of Month

The government is preparing Regulation of the Minister of Health on the implementation of the Standard Inpatient Class (Kelas Rawat Inap Standar – “KRIS”) which is the implementing regulation of Regulation of the President No. 59 of 2024 on the Third Amendment to Regulation of the President No. 82 of 2018 on Health Insurance (“Perpres 59/2024”).

" The Regulation of the Minister of Health on KRIS is still in the process of being discussed for harmonization," said the Head of the Legal Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Indah Febrianti, to Hukumonline. Indah emphasized that the regulation would be completed before the end of this month.

Things that will be regulated include: Building components used must not have a high level of porosity; air ventilation; room lighting; bed completeness; bedside tables per bed; room temperature; treatment rooms are divided based on gender, children or adults, and infectious or non-infectious diseases; density of treatment rooms and quality of beds; restrooms/partitions between beds; bathrooms in inpatient rooms; bathrooms meet accessibility standards; and oxygen outlets.

The implementation of treatment room facilities based on KRIS will be carried out comprehensively for hospitals that cooperate with the the Social Security Agency for Health (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial Kesehatan – “BPJS”) no later than 30 June 2025. Meanwhile, the determination of benefits, tariffs, and contributions will be determined no later than 1 July 2025. During the implementation period of KRIS, the minister will foster healthcare facilities to achieve the goals.
