Pertamina is Appointed as Offtaker of Coal Gasification Products.

The government is drafting a regulation of the president (“ Perpres ”) on the Distribution and Price Determination of Dimethyl Ether (“ DME ”) as Fuel. This draft Perpres was explained by Siti Sumilah Rita Susilawati,  the Secretary of the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ ESDM ”), as an assignment for PT Pertamina (Persero) to become the offtaker of DME products derived from coal gasification.

“Currently, the draft Perpres regarding the assignment of Pertamina as the offtaker of DME products is also being prepared,” said Rita.

"The process of discussing this draft regulation, said Rita, has reached the stage of submitting the approval of the Draft Perpres following the Level I Discussion by the Inter-Ministerial Committee (PAK). The drafting of this regulation is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Downstream/Investment Coordinating Board (Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal– “ BKPM ”).

"The draft Perpres is being prepared in cooperation with BKPM and other relevant agencies. It is currently still under discussion," added Rita.

Regarding the distribution and pricing of DME as fuel in the draft regulation, she stated that it refers to provisions from the Oil and Gas (“ Migas ”) sub-sector, under the Directorate General of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
