Points of Revision on the Law on Forestry

The government has begun preparing a Draft Bill on the Amendment to Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry     , as has also been amended several times, most recently through Regulation of the Government in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation      (collectively referred to as      “ UU 41/1999 ”). Regarding the inventory of forest areas, it will be updated.

“The inventory of forest areas will be adjusted to the authority of the province, in accordance with      the Law on Regional Governments     ,” said the Director-General of Urban and Regional Planning at the Ministry of Forestry      (Kementerian Kehutanan–      “ Kemenhut ”), Ade Triaji Kusumah      to Hukumonline.

The purpose of the inventory is to determine the potential of forest resources, so that it can become the basis for sustainable forest planning and management. Provincial-level inventory can be the basis for forestry policies at the regional and management unit levels.
