The Ministry of Trade ("Kemendag") plans to revise Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 31/M-DAG/PER/10/2011 ("Permendag 31/2011") on Prepackaged Goods (Barang Dalam Keadaan Terbungkus – "BDKT"). The proposed amendment was announced by the Regional Office I of the Legal Metrology Standardization Agency (Balai Standardisasi Metrologi Legal – "BSML") as part of the Government's efforts to strengthen the supervision of the quantity of prepackaged products, including 3 kg liquefied petroleum gas ("LPG") cylinders.
"We plan to revise Permendag 31/2011 on prepackaged goods in the future," stated Handika Septian, Junior Trade Supervisor at BSML Regional Office I.
The proposed revision is intended to align the technical supervision framework with the higher-level regulatory framework, namely Government Regulation No. 3 of 2026 (“PP 3/2026”) on Amendments to Government Regulation No. 29 of 2021 on the Administration of the Trade Sector (collectively referred to as “PP 29/2021”). The proposed amendments will focus on strengthening labeling standards and ensuring the accuracy of quantity declarations so that consumers receive products in the quantities for which they have paid. The revision is also intended to promote a uniform understanding and consistent application of legal metrology supervision among inspection officers across different regions.
