The government plans to amend Law No. 3 of 2014 on Industry (“ Industrial Law ”) to adjust the national industrial paradigm. The revision is a parliamentary initiative.

“The Industry Bill is an initiative of the DPR. Currently, its position is still in the hands of the Legislation Body,” a source told hukumonline.com. The Ministry of Industry wants to strengthen its duties and functions as a technical agency overseeing industry.

Here are some points proposed by the government in the framework of amendments to the regulation.

  1. Industrial standardization;

  2. Increasing the use of domestic products;

  3. Industrial services;

  4. Halal industry; and

  5. Strengthening the PPNS of Industry.

During the revision, the Ministry of Industry involved related parties to collaborate, for example with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce. Input from the entrepreneur forum is expected to be able to help the government evaluate in drafting regulations.
