Proposed Revision of the Law on Housing and Residential Areas

Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the      House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Republik Indonesia–      “ DPR RI ”),      Syaiful Huda suggested amendments to Law                           on Housing and Residential Areas, as amended by           Regulation of the Government in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation      (collectively referred to as           “ UU 1/2011 ”). There are three things that he proposed in the revision plan.

"The issue of land acquisition is indeed rather complicated, for example, the need (for land) for building houses in certain cities. Many people do not have houses, but the problem is that land acquisition is not easy," he told Hukumonline.

Then regarding the financing scheme, he suggested clarifying what obligations are imposed on the government,      the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (Anggaran PendapatanBelanjaNegara–      “ APBN ”), and      the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (Anggaran Pendapatan Belanja Daerah–      “ APBD ”).

Finally, changes related to government authority to ensure the acceleration of national development. Authority can be in the form of strengthening ministries or maximizing the performance of the Housing Acceleration Agency.
