Quarantine Agency Postpones the Implementation of Regulation on Quarantine

Implementation of Regulation of the Quarantine Agency (Badan Karantina– “ Barantin ”) No. 5 of 2025 on the Amendment to Regulation of Barantin No. 1 of 2024 on Types of Commodities Subject to Mandatory Quarantine Inspection for Animals, Fish, and Plants (collectively referred to as “ PerBarantin 1/2024 ”) is hereby postponed. The postponement is intended to ensure system integration for the smooth operation of export-import activities.

“Because this system will be linked with the Indonesia National Single Window (SINSW) and various other institutions, the system will be further deliberated and will not operate independently,” stated Sahat Manaor Panggabean, Head of the Indonesian Barantin, in an interview with Hukumonline.

The Government has coordinated with business actors to ensure their understanding of the postponement, and to guarantee that all quarantine inspection processes continue to proceed efficiently, without the addition of any procedures that may hinder or delay operations. This measure aligns with the interests of the entrepreneurs regarding the acceleration and efficiency of processes.

“To accommodate the interests of the entrepreneurs, we have developed a digital service system. All documents may be submitted online, thereby eliminating the need for inspections—as long as they remain compliant,” stated Sahat, while adding that the timeline for implementation remains undetermined.
