The Ministry of Public Works has finalized Draft Regulation of the President (Draft Regulation) in relation to the mandatory use of processed Buton Asphalt (“Asbuton”) in national infrastructure projects. Director-General of Highways at the Ministry of Public Works Roy Rizali Anwar expressed a commitment to using Asbuton from upstream to downstream within the national ecosystem.
“Asbuton is not merely a commodity, but a national asset that must be supported to strengthen infrastructure material self-reliance,” stated Roy.
The government is currently harmonizing the Regulation of the Ministry of Public Works on the Use of Processed Asbuton for Road Construction and Preservation for 2026–2029. The regulation sets progressive targets for the use of processed asphalt, including a 100 percent target for the Java and Bali regions by 2027.
