The government's plan to revise Minister of Trade Regulation No. 8 of 2024 ("Permendag 8/2024") concerning the Third Amendment to Minister of Trade Regulation No. 36 of 2023 on Import Policies and Regulations ("Permendag 36/2023") is approaching completion.

Under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs ("Kemenko Perekonomian"), the evaluation process of Permendag 8/2024 has entered the stage of receiving input from various Ministries/Agencies and affected business actors. The spokesperson for Kemenko Perekonomian, Haryo Limanseto, explained that the status of Permendag 8/2024 will be decided through cross-sectoral discussions once all inputs have been received.

"We are still in the process of receiving input; once all input is received, the status of Permendag 8/2024 will be discussed," Haryo told Hukumonline.com.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Fiber and Filament Yarn Producers Association (APSyFI), Redma Gita Wiraswasta, stated that he had provided several inputs related to the evaluation of Permendag 8/2024.

"Yes, we participated in the discussion last week. However, it was not specifically about revising Permendag 8 only. The discussion also covered the general condition of the Textile and Textile Products ("TPT") sector," explained Redma.

Regarding input for the revision of Permendag 8/2024 itself, Redma urged that all TPT goods with HS 50-63 be subject to trade regulation and require technical considerations per the Ministry of Industry's rules. Additionally, regulations concerning Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (K3L), Indonesian language labeling, and SNI certification should be included under border control supervision.

Lastly, Redma also requested transparency in the implementation of technical consideration quotas by the Ministry of Industry, which has so far been deemed lacking in transparency.
