Revision of Industrial Sector SNI Regulations to Harmonize 71 Rules

The Ministry of Industry is currently harmonizing several internal regulations related to Regulation of the Minister of Industry No. 45 of 2022 on Industrial Standardization (“Permenperin 45/2022”).

Sutarto, Head of the Implementation and Enforcement Team at the Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, stated that the regulation mandates the harmonization of 71 other regulations.

He explained that, of the 71 ministerial regulations requiring revision, 62 have already been adjusted. “There are still several Regulations of the Minister of Industry that have not yet been revised due to various reasons, and moving forward, it will be our task to complete the revisions,” Sutarto said.

Sutarto explained that the revision of these regulations aims to update several terms and mechanisms related to the implementation of the Indonesian National Standard (“SNI”), including, among others, clarifying the distinctions between industrial companies, overseas manufacturers, brand cooperation arrangements, contract manufacturing arrangements (maklon), business actors, authorized representatives, and company representatives.

In addition, the term Product Certificate for the Use of the SNI Mark (Sertifikat Produk Penggunaan Tanda SNI/SPPT SNI) has been changed to SNI Certificate. However, the use of the SNI mark will still require an SPPT SNI. After obtaining an SPPT SNI, products may display the SNI mark along with an electronic mark.
