The Government aims to boost economic growth through the revision of the Standard Classification of Indonesian Business Fields (“ KBLI ”). One measure includes splitting Harmonized System (HS) Numbers or the International Standard Industrial Classification (“ ISIC ”) specifically for domestic innovative products that are still manufactured under contract abroad.
“In the 2025 KBLI revision, in addition to the regular five-year cycle, this update will also incorporate several business fields that have so far not been adequately captured for measuring economic activity by Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (“ BPS ”),” said Haryo Limanseto, Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, to Hukumonline
According to Haryo, the policy is outlined in the revision of Regulation of BPS No. 2 of 2020 on KBLI (“ PerBPS 2/2020 ”). The KBLI refinement also covers new business sectors, ranging from the development of Artificial Intelligence (“ AI ”), social media monetization, and crypto assets to changes in business models such as Factoryless Goods Producers (“ FGP ”) and Carbon Capture and Storage (“ CCS ”) activities.
