The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (“DPR RI”) is currently drafting a revision to Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower, as amended by Regulation of the Government in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation (collectively referred to as “Law 13/2003”). The amendments to Law 13/2003 will provide protection to both workers and employers.
“We want this law to be comprehensive and truly pro-worker, while also taking employers into consideration and strengthening government policy,” said Irma Suryani, a member of Commission IX of the DPR RI, to Hukumonline.
According to Irma, the discussion on the revision of Law 13/2003 does not only focus on the decision of the Constitutional Court (“MK”). DPR RI is also open to discussing regulations for informal workers, including freelancers and online motorcycle taxi drivers.
“Online motorcycle taxis and all those who can be categorized as workers,” said Irma.
