Revision of Perpres 98/2021 Nears Finalization, Implementing Regulations Being Prepared

The Ministry of Environment is preparing a revision of Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No. 21 of 2022 [RS1] on the Procedures for the Implementation of Carbon Economic Value (“ PermenLHK 21/2022 ”).

Ary Sudijanto, Deputy for Climate Change Control and Carbon Economic Value Governance at KLH, explained that the revision aligns with the forthcoming revision of Regulation of the President No. 98 of 2021 on the Implementation of Carbon Economic Value to Achieve Nationally Determined Contribution Targets and Control Over Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Relation to National Development (“ Perpres 98/2021 ”).

Ary explained that the revision is being undertaken to provide legal certainty regarding mutual recognition agreements between countries or institutions. “Therefore, the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contribution (“ NDC ”) in PermenLHK 21/2022 will be revised,” Ary told Hukumonline.
