Revision of Regulation of the Government No. 29 of 2021 Awaits Approval from the President: Here Are the Changes

The revision of Regulation of the Government No. 29 of 2021 on the Organization of Trade Sector (“PP 29/2021”) is still in progress at the Ministry of Trade. Public consultations on the Draft Regulation of the Government (RPP) have been conducted three times, and it is currently awaiting the President’s initial approval.

“We are currently awaiting the President’s initiative approval," said Rifah Ariny, the Head of the Legal Bureau of the Ministry of Trade, to Hukumonline.

Although the initiative approval is still pending, Rifah assured that discussions on the regulation are ongoing. She explained that the amendment to the PP include: 1) Adjustment of the institutional structure of the Coordinating Ministry; 2) Policy on warehouse management reporting; 3) Changes to the ownership limits of modern retail stores in the context of franchising; 4) Review of direct selling, 5) Policy on Wrapped Goods (Barang Dalam Keadaan Terbungkus – "BDKT") 6) Parameters for environmental protection; 7) Supervision and provisions on administrative sanctions.
