The Director General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (Energi Baru, Terbarukan, dan Konservasi Energi-“ EBTKE ”) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ ESDM ”), Eniya Listiani Dewi, stated that the revision process of Regulation of the Government (“ PP ”) No. 14 of 2012 on the Business Activities of Electricity Supply, as amended by PP No. 23 of 2014 (collectively referred to as “ PP 14/2012 ”), is currently underway.
“In the current PP, we are discussing the revision of PP 14/2012,” said Eniya.
The focus of this regulatory amendment is to strengthen and complete the legal framework governing cross-border clean electricity exports. Eniya mentioned several key points of the revision, including provisions on electricity sales and purchases, network leasing arrangements, as well as partnership or cooperation models that will be made mandatory.
With regard to this cooperation model, subsidiaries of PT PLN (Persero) will be mandated to enter into partnerships with private companies operating in the electricity sector.
