RPerpres on the AI Roadmap Nearing Completion

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (“ Komdigi ”) is finalizing the Draft Regulation of the President (“ RPerpres ”) on the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap for 2026–2029. The regulation is projected to serve as a policy guideline for the integration of intelligent technologies across various critical sectors in Indonesia.

“Through this Roadmap, we are building an ecosystem where our digital talent can be subjects, not merely objects, of global technology,” said Nezar Patria, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, to Hukumonline.

According to the draft obtained by Hukumonline, the RPerpres mandates the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence Coordination Task Force. One of its planned actions involves the development of deep learning technologies to detect hoaxes and disinformation in order to maintain public trust, with acceleration targeted during the 2027–2029 period.

“If the process is completed, I believe it will be soon, and we hope within this year,” he added.
