RPP RIPIN Prepares a Roadmap for the Power Generation Industry

The Ministry of Industry (“Kemenperin”) is currently in the process of updating the Draft Regulation of the Government on the National Industrial Development Master Plan (Rancangan Peraturan Pemerintah tentang Rencana Induk Pengembangan Industri Nasional - “RPP RIPIN”) for the 2025–2045 period. The development of the new and renewable energy power generation industry, particularly the solar module industry, is one of the priorities under the RPP currently being prepared.

“New and renewable energy power generation has indeed been incorporated into the National Industrial Development Master Plan, which we are currently revising for the 2026–2045 period,” said Solehan, Director of Machinery and Agricultural Machinery Industries at Kemenperin.

He explained that the revision divides the roadmap for the development of the solar power generation industry into three stages, with a focus on gradually improving the efficiency of domestically manufactured solar module technology: 24% in Stage I (2025–2029), 27% in Stage II (2030–2034), and 30% in Stage III (2035–2045).

According to Solehan, the focus of RIPIN will be on localizing components that are still imported, supported by investment and industry collaboration.

In addition to solar modules, the proposed RIPIN shall also include a roadmap for the development of other priority industrial products, including saturated steam, static kWh meters with two-way communication systems, instrument transformers (“CT/PT”), switchgear, low-voltage panels, medium-voltage panels, as well as hydro turbines and wind turbines.
