RUU KUHAP Shortens Dispute Resolution

Indonesia’s House of Representatives (“ DPR RI ”) is preparing Draft Bill (“ RUU ”) on Civil Procedural Law. This regulation will introduce a mechanism for examining cases under a summary procedure.

“This year, the Civil Procedural Law will be drafted first. The objective is for it to become an initiative proposal of DPR RI before being discussed with the Government,” said Commission III Member of DPR RI, Bob Hasan, to Hukumonline.

The examination of cases under a summary procedure, as to be regulated in the RUU KUHAP, will be conducted by a single judge under procedures that are simple and clearly defined. Its purpose is to serve as a mechanism for resolving disputes of an urgent nature.
