Law No. 5 of 1960 on Basic Agrarian Principles (“Basic Agrarian Law”) is likely to be revised. The plan will be discussed by the Special Committee on Agrarian Conflicts (“Pansus”) formed by the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (“DPR RI”).

“In my opinion, it has been a long time since the 60s. We will see how things develop in the Pansus,” said Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal to Hukumonline.

Pansus on Agrarian Conflicts will also discuss the synchronization of a number of overlapping regulations, one of which is related to agrarian maps, including the one map policy.

Cucun himself is pushing for the formation of an Agrarian Reform Agency, which will report directly to the president. “The recommendations from the Pansus will be in the form of a state gazette that must be obeyed by the government,” said Cucun.

The Pansus on Agrarian Conflicts will involve relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency. Community organizations, such as the Agrarian Reform Consortium (KPA) will also be involved.
