Member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives, Endang Setyawati Thohari, proposed that the government expand the public fueling stations (Stasiun Pengisian Bahan Bakar Umum– (“ SPBU ”) specifically for agriculture. The aim is to optimize the agricultural sector’s performance and make it easier for farmers.
“This is very important. Because many agricultural tools that have been handed over to farmers are located in hamlets far from SPBU, making them impossible to operate,” said Endang to Hukumonline.
Increasing the productivity of agricultural commodities goes hand in hand with the use of adequate tools and machinery, so farmers need sufficient fuel (Bahan Bakar Minyak– “ BBM ”) to operate the equipment.
“Regulations remain under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral– “ ESDM ”). The Ministry of Agriculture shall submit proposals to the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, which are then forwarded to the Minister of ESDM,” he said.
