Shinta W. Kamdani, Vice Chairwoman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“Kadin”), proposed that the organizational supervision mechanism in the revision of Law No. 1 of 1987 on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“Law 1/1987”) be conducted through a supervisory board involving a number of stakeholders. According to her, this format is necessary to ensure that Kadin continues to carry out its role and objectives independently.
“To determine Kadin’s positioning, it is necessary to involve parties that can act independently so that Kadin’s independence can be maintained,” Shinta told Hukumonline.
She explained that supervision of Kadin could involve various stakeholders, including business associations. Their involvement is necessary to ensure that Kadin operates in accordance with the organization’s objectives and positioning.
Shinta added that Kadin’s independence is not determined solely by whether or not the organization receives support from the State Budget. According to her, independence is also reflected in Kadin’s objectives and role in carrying out its functions.
