Director General of Mineral and Coal (Dirjen Minerba) Tri Winarno revealed that the government is finalizing the revision of Regulation of the President No. 55 of 2022 on the Delegation of Authority for the Issuance of Business Licenses in the Mineral and Coal Mining Sector (“ Perpres 55/2022 ”). One of the revisions includes transferring the licensing authority for non-metal minerals and rocks to the central government.
“A revision of Perpres 55/2022 is necessary. We are currently in the process of finalizing it,” said Tri.
He stated that the focus of the finalization is on the readiness of human resources, application systems, and service mechanisms to prevent any disruptions when the authority is transferred.
Tri emphasized the importance of the central government’s preparedness to ensure licensing services remain optimal. The government does not want the transfer of authority to hinder service delivery to license applicants.
“We must ensure that after the authority is transferred, we are still able to provide services,” he said.
The government is also developing a system to facilitate licensing processes at the central level. However, Tri has not yet specified the number of commodities or licenses that will be affected by this policy.
