The government will amend Government Regulation No. 122 of 2015 (“PP 122/2015”) on the Drinking Water Supply System (Sistem Penyediaan Air Minum - “SPAM”). This regulation strengthens the transformation of drinking water services in Indonesia by establishing a new agency.
“The establishment of the Water Supply Regulatory Agency aims to ensure that drinking water services are more standardized, accountable, and no longer fragmented across regions and sectors,” said Dewi Chomistriana, Director-General of Human Settlements.
Another key point in this regulatory amendment is the integration of drinking water and domestic wastewater management that aimed at improving efficiency, preventing raw water pollution, and ensuring the quality of life of the community. The discussion on the amendment to PP 122/2015 is currently at the harmonization stage.
